Silence and darkness closed around him when he walked past the remains of what was once the entrance to the dwarven realm. The sound of his steps echoed through the wide halls every time his feet struck the stone ground beneath him.

Something was calling him.

Ever since he had set foot on the mountain there was this strange feeling nestling inside him. Slowly growing. Lurking.

Something crunched under his boots. It shimmered in the dim light. His heart beat faster against his rips and he continued his way. It felt like he was caught in a trance, his body seemed to move on its own.

The whispering grew stronger.

A bright golden light met his eyes when he entered the great hall, the sight was almost blinding him. His gaze wandered over the hall, over the GOLD inside it, covering the ground like sand in the desert. And it was all theirs – no, HIS, the voice in his head corrected.

He would never share the gold of Erebor with those men of Lake Town! It may have cost the lives of his nephews and other two dwarves of his company but it had been worth it. 'Every single coin of it!' the voice assured. The quiet whispering that had now grown into strong aggressive words. They echoed through his head, too loud and strong for the small warning voice that said the opposite in the depths of Thorin’s mind to ever be heard...

Another Goldsickness inspired fanart. Thorin surrounded by his worst enemy – thousands of gold coins! 

Was too lazy to draw the crown though. xP

Tried again to write a little story to this picture, it's the scene after Smaug died when Thorin goes back to Erebor without even looking back. I hope you enjoyed it.
